July 25, 2014 - Solar Frontier and the town of Hiraizumi have agreed to build a 13MW CIS megasolar ("utility-scale") power plant. Hiraizumi, located in Iwate Prefecture in north-eastern Japan. The new megasolar plant will be located in Kagonezawa District of Hiraizumi on 30 hectares of land designated for commercial use. -

July 25, 2014 - SolarReserve today announced that it signed a supply contract for its 20MW Acajutla PV solar power project in El Salvador as part of a highly competitive tender solicitation by the local electric distribution companies. The tender was administered by Distribuidora de Electricidad del Sur ("DELSUR"), and was overseen by El Salvador's Electricity and Telecommunications regulatory body Superintendencia General de Electricidad y Telecomunicaciones ("SIGET"). -

July 24, 2014 - SunEdison, Inc. today announced its acquisition of the 156MW DC Comanche Solar project from Community Energy. SunEdison is partnering with Community Energy to complete the final development stage of the project by structuring the financing and providing procurement expertise for the project, following which SunEdison will manage the construction, operation, and maintenance of the solar power plant. Construction will begin in 2015 with commercial operation targeted for early 2016. -
