The Greek subsidiary of Juwi AG secured 47 percent of the total volume in the latest auction round for wind and solar projects in Greece. The company's "Kozani" project has a size of 204MWp in South East Europe. A total volume of 635MW participated in the auction, 437MW have been awarded. Juwi competed with four other solar and one wind project in the 30-minute online auction.

"Thanks to a very well prepared and precisely executed strategy, we were not only able to bring our entire project volume through the auction process - we have managed to secure the highest tariff of all other solar projects", reports Takis Sarris, Managing Director of juwi Hellas. Juwi secured a remuneration of 5.73 cents per kwh.

The awarded project is located in the north of Greece about 15km away from the city of Kozani. In December 2019, Juwi will begin with the construction of the solar park on an area of more than 400 hectares. It is scheduled to be connected to the grid by April 2021. The solar park is expected to produce more than 300 million kwh of electricity annually.

"For us, the auction result is also the reward for our persistence. After the collapse of the Greek market in 2013, we continued to believe in the potential of renewables in Greece as well as in other European countries and maintained our activities with a small team. That has now paid off," says Juwi-EMEA Regional Director Dirk Retzlaff.
