May 5, 2014 - Advanced Energy Industries today announced financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2014. The company reported first quarter sales of $140.9 million compared with $152.6 million in the fourth quarter of 2013 and $111.8 million in the first quarter of 2013. Net income was $14.7 million or $0.35 per diluted share. On a non-GAAP basis, net income was $18.1 million or $0.43 per diluted share. A reconciliation of non-GAAP net income and earnings per share is provided in the tables below. Based on the current mix of profits between precision power products and inverters, the effective tax rate was approximately 12.5%. The company ended the quarter with $122.7 million in cash and marketable securities, a decrease of $27.0 million, primarily due to the acquisition of AEG Power Solutions GmbH line of Power Control Modules announced in January. -

May 2, 2014 – Hanwha Q CELLS today announced the supply of more than 58,000 modules of its Q.PRO-G3 series for a 15MW solar farm near the U.K. east coast. The company has teamed up with U.K.'s Lark Energy who developed the so called "Ellough" power plant in the English eastern county of Suffolk. "We decided to use the Q CELLS Q.PRO-G3 modules, because Hanwha Q CELLS delivers high yields, premium quality and financial stability," said Paul Adams, Lark Energy's Deputy Managing Director. The British solar firm focuses on financing, developing and installing large scale, commercial solar projects. Lark Energy's sister company Deepings Building & Plumbing Supplies provided the Q CELLS modules, inverters and cables and Armstrong Energy arranged the finance for the project at very short notice. After supply of the modules in March and successful installation and connection, the solar farm meets the country's March 2014 ROC deadline. The 15MW plant is expected to provide clean solar power for around 4,400 local households while saving around 10,400 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year. The financial terms of the supply agreement were not disclosed. -
